Music History

Jimi Hendrix Statue (1604 Broadway): A statue honoring the Seattle-born rock icon near where he grew up.

Neumos (925 E Pike St): Formerly Moe's Mo'Roc'N Café, this central music venue helped define the Capitol Hill music scene in the 1990s.

Linda's Tavern (907 E Pike St): Known as a favorite haunt of grunge musicians, it is famously noted as one of the last places Kurt Cobain was seen alive.

Dick’s Drive-In (115 Broadway): The backdrop for Sir Mix A Lot’s 1989 Rocket (Music Mag) Cover Photo + location of Macklemore’s White Walls video.

Black Sun Sculpture (Volunteer Park): A popular spot for fans of Soundgarden, as this sculpture is rumored to have inspired the song "Black Hole Sun".

Comet Tavern (922 E Pike St): One of the oldest bars in Seattle dating back to the 1930s, it served as a “living room” for artists and hosted many musicians during the grunge era.

Punk Rock Flea Market(416 15th Avenue East): With a $1 entry fee, this bizarre bazaar celebrates 20 years of cultural force.

Bruce Lee’s gravesite (Lakeview Cemetery): this Hong Kong-American martial artist and actor is buried alongside his son.

The AMP: Aids Memorial Pathway (920 East Barbara Bailey Way): public art and technology create a place for remembrance and reflection in Seattle about the AIDS epidemic.

Volunteer Park: an Olmstead Legacy Park, with lots of walking paths and a conservatory for plant lovers. Summers often feature theatrical performances in the amphitheater. 

Cal Anderson Park: named after the state’s first LGBTQIA+ legislator, Cal Anderson sits in the heart of Capitol Hill and was built over a functioning reservoir.
